Hi there, My name is Vik and I have created Coffee, Chill and Spill as a resource for mum’s to reach out to.
After the birth of my second baby, I experienced severe anxiety; I found myself in a place I never thought I would be in and it was really scary, and at times lonely. I really wanted to create a sense of community for new mum’s; a safe place to talk, or just to sit and have a little bit of focus on them.
We have so many wonderful baby groups in the Stockport area, but there is very little in the way of support for mum’s. We go through such a massive transition having a baby, and the main focus is on prenatal and birth care (which is amazing), however, recovery from birth and getting to grips with being a mummy were way harder than pregnancy for me.
How Coffee, Chill and Spill Can Help
I have created a Facebook page, a closed Facebook group and also a Maternal well being support group at Heaton Norris Community centre, that runs weekly. It is open to all mum’s who are feeling a little lost, isolated or just overwhelmed.
A mother’s well being is just as important as the baby’s well being, and I wanted to provide somewhere that supports that.
I have two wonderful sponsors that support the group, Messy monkeys Manchester south and Baby Sensory Stockport. we are working together to build a secure community for parents. Their support allows me to run the group for free. I provide hot drinks and breakfast and have some wonderful volunteers that offer, relaxation techniques, holistic therapies, beauty treatments and CBT sessions.
My professional background is in family support and early years and I am qualified to a level – BA Hons in childhood, youth and families. I am expanding the service to tailored postnatal care at home in September – Coffee, Chill and Spill At Home, so watch out for updates with this or contact me via one of the Facebook pages.
