Trafford year 6 pupil, Ruby overcame her fear of loud noises to sleep outside for 5 nights, as a challenge to raise £200 for the Association of NHS Charities.
Having family friends and family working within the NHS, Ruby (aged 10 years) wanted to give something back, and help raise money to say thank you for their hard work. Being limited in what she could do to help, Ruby came up with the idea of camping in her garden for 5 nights, even though her Mum (Sharon Pyne) advises that “any slightest noise freaks her out!.”
In her Go Fund Me fundraiser bio, Ruby explains that she loves a dare devil challenge, and roped her Dad to spend the 5 nights outside in the tent with her. Mum explains that she found the first few nights tough, didn’t sleep very much at all, but showed great determination and perseverance to keep going. Ruby didn’t complain once, and was inspired and motivated to keep going as her original target of £200 was exceeded.
As the donations kept coming in, her Headteacher and Year 6 teacher were proud of the achievements Ruby was making, by using her time to help others and to keep going even through nights of no sleep.
At the time of writing this, Ruby has raised £675 for NHS charities, which us fantastic. What a lovely act of kindness, to put aside your anxieties and to make sure you complete a challenge set. Ruby is an inspiration!
Ruby’s Go Fund Me page is still live if you would like to contribute, and say Well Done to her for completing her challenge and to also donate to this worthy cause. Click on this link HERE.
