The magical land of Narnia is coming to Altrincham! Mr Tumnus, Mrs Beaver, The Professor and the White Witch are among the famous characters that people will encounter if they dare to step through the wardrobe at Altrincham Baptist Church on Hale Rd.
The huge undertaking involves many volunteers and actors. Minister Ashley Hardingham says, “We are so excited to be bringing this production to our community to re-tell this timeless story of winter and spring, light and darkness, good and evil as you travel through the story, meeting the characters and finally meeting the true king of Narnia, Aslan himself.”
The trail is inspired by the popular The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, after successful recent productions in Liverpool by the charity In Another Place
The church building is being transformed to take visitors on a journey through the land of Narnia in a large-scale, immersive and interactive trail. The experience is not a show but there will be actors in a guided tour. Like the Pevensie children in the C. S. Lewis story, visitors ‘arrive’ at Paddington station where they are met by housekeeper Mrs Macready. They will be led in to the magical land of Narnia by the dryads in groups of either Lucy or Edmund. You will be taken through various scenes from the book visiting the homes of Mr Tumnus and Mrs Beaver and crossing the frozen waterfall. So without giving too much away … there will be snow, surprises and adventure! It’s also not just for children.
The Narnia Experience will run from Tuesday 26th to Sunday 31st March, with over 700 school children visiting during the school day. Public sessions are available afternoons, evenings and during the weekend and can be booked at www.ticketsource.co.uk/abcnarnia. The experience will take around 90 minutes. Numbers are limited so book early. “This will be a wonderful experience for the whole family”, says Ashley.
